COVID-19 Resources
OSHA continues to update its COVID-19 webpage with guidance for employers and workers. Recently, OSHA:
- Issued an Emergency Temporary Standard for Healthcare (issued June 21, 2021; public comments now due August 20, 2021) and Inspection Procedures for the COVID-19 ETS (June 28, 2021), and launched a new webpage with ETS-related resources, including:
- Released Updated Guidance for Mitigating and Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 in the Workplace (June 10, 2021) which focuses protections on unvaccinated and otherwise at-risk workers, encourages COVID-19 vaccination, and links to updated guidance.
- Issued a revised National Emphasis Program (NEP) for COVID-19, and Updated Interim Enforcement Response Plan (IERP) (July 7, 2021). Both documents replace the March 12, 2021 versions and provide updated enforcement procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Pamphlet
OSHA issued a new pamphlet on PPE that may be used to protect first responders and recovery workers responding to natural disasters, biological hazards, accidental releases, and terrorism events.

Whistleblower Card
OSHA issued a new card, Whistleblowers Have the Right to Report Tax Fraud! in English and Spanish.

NIOSH FACE Reports and Products
The NIOSH Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Program conducts investigations on workplace fatalities to identify the factors that contributed to these fatal injuries. This information is used to develop comprehensive recommendations for preventing similar incidents. Struck-By Resources and New Fatality Dashboard
CPWR- The Center for Construction Research and Training published a data bulletin on struck-by injuries and two related infographics: Struck-bys are a Leading Cause of Injury (English, Spanish) and Best Practices for Safe Crane Lifts (English, Spanish).
CPWR also launched a Construction Fatality Map Dashboard that provides detailed geographic information and other circumstances for more than 6,000 fatal injuries that have taken place since 2011.

Fall Prevention Infographics
OSHA, NIOSH, and CPWR developed three new infographics for the 2021 Fall Stand-Down: Working on Existing Decking (English, Spanish); Safe Use of Hatches (English, Spanish); and Extreme Heat and Construction Falls (English, Spanish).

Mental Health Cost Calculator
The National Safety Council collaborated with an independent research institution to develop a Mental Health Cost Calculator, a tool demonstrating the cost of employee mental health and illness for employers.

The following new materials developed by grantees under OSHA’s Susan Harwood Training Grant Program were posted on the OSHA website from April 1 to June 30, 2021. - AgriSafe Network (IA) developed training materials on respiratory protection in agricultural operations, including grain handling.
Chemical Hazards and Hazard Communication
- Asian Immigrant Women Advocates (CA) developed training materials in English, Chinese, and Nepali for limited English-speaking and low/non-literate workers in the electronics, food services, home care, garment, and beauty salon industries.
- Nova Southeastern University (FL) developed training materials on chemical hazards for maritime industry workers on hazardous event response.
Communication Towers
- The National Association of Tower Erectors developed training materials on advanced rigging principles for communication tower workers and employers.
Electrical Hazards
- FIU updated training materials in English and Spanish for the construction industry covering topics such as improper grounding, inadequate wiring, overhead power lines, exposed electrical parts, and damaged tools and equipment.
- Iowa Lakes Community College (IA) developed training materials in English and Spanish for construction and general industry, covering topics such as recognition and abatement of electrical arc hazards.
- Solar Energy International updated training materials on hazards related to the installation and maintenance of ground-mounted photovoltaic systems.
- Southern Illinois University developed training materials in English, Spanish, and Mandarin on common electrical hazards in construction.
Fall Prevention
- Florida International University (FIU) updated construction training materials in English and Spanish.
- The Structural Building Components Association developed training materials in English and Spanish for framing labor workers.
Heat Illness Prevention
- Sonora Environmental Research Institute (AZ) developed extreme temperature training materials in English and Spanish for construction and general industry.
Machine Guarding
- The Georgia Tech Research Corporation developed training materials in Spanish for workers in high-hazard manufacturing industries with amputation hazards.
- Northwestern University (IL) developed shop safety training materials for youth workers on hazards associated with belt sanders, drill presses, hand tools, horizontal band saw, vertical band saw, lathes, and milling machines.
- Pueblo Community College (CO) developed machine guarding training materials for manufacturing and construction.
Silica
- The Chicagoland Construction Safety Council (IL) developed training materials in English and Spanish on silica hazards and controls in construction.
Trenching and Excavation
- FIU updated training materials in English and Spanish for construction and general industries.
- The State Building and Construction Trade Council developed train-the-trainer materials in English and Spanish on trenching and excavation hazards, including cave-ins.
