An OSHA webpage provides guidance for employers and workers on COVID-19.  The page includes publications, OSHA alerts, videos, a poster, and enforcement guidance.

Grease Traps

OSHA has issued a Hazard Bulletin on grease trap hazards. Many businesses use grease traps (also known as grease interceptors) as part of a waste management system to prevent sewer system blockages from accumulated waste fats, oils, and greases.

Grain Handling

A poster for the 2020 Grain Safety Stand-Up (April 13-17) is available. OSHA has also issued a hazard alert (English and Spanish) on protecting workers from wet grain engulfment.

NIOSH FACE Reports and Products

The NIOSH Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Program conducts investigations on workplace fatalities to identify the factors that contributed to these fatal injuries. This information is used to develop comprehensive recommendations for preventing similar incidents.  The NIOSH FACE Program issued the following reports and products from January 1 to March 31, 2020.

Ladder Safety Video

CPWR's Roofing Research to Practice Partnership (National Roofing Contractors Association and the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers) developed a short video on safe ladder practices and how to use NIOSH's free ladder safety app.

The following materials developed by grantees under OSHA’s Susan Harwood Training Grant Program were posted on the OSHA website from January 1 to March 31, 2020. See the OSHA website for a complete list of a materials developed by Harwood grantees. These materials do not necessarily reflect the official views of OSHA.

Fall Prevention

• The University of Tennessee developed materials on fall prevention in construction.  Topics included roof structure falls, ladder falls, scaffold and platform falls, bucket/aerial falls, and opening falls.
• Casa Latina developed materials in English and Spanish on fall prevention in construction. Topics included ladders, scaffolds, and preventing falls.

• Miami Dade College developed materials in English and Spanish on fall prevention in general industry and construction. 

Other Construction

• Evergreen Safety Council developed materials on construction road zone hazards. 
• Solar Energy International developed materials on solar energy industry hazards.  Topics included fall protection, ladder safety, focus four, roof mounting safety, and solar electrical safety.
• Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium developed materials for rural Alaska native construction workers.  Topics included excavation, electrical safety, and fall hazards.

Machine Guarding

• Nebraska Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest developed materials in English and Spanish on machine guarding and amputation prevention for workers in manufacturing and construction.

Tree Care

• The Tree Care Industry Association developed materials in Spanish on chains saws and chippers. 

Nail Salons

• The New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health developed materials in English and Spanish on protecting employers, workers, and clients in nail salons.
