This has been a year of major milestones for the Office of Justice Programs. We’ve celebrated the 50^th anniversary of our Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. We commemorated 40 years since the passage of the Victims of Crime Act, which set up the Crime Victims Fund. And yesterday, we celebrated the 40^th anniversary of the Bureau of Justice Assistance, recognizing four decades of innovative work to advance public safety and equal justice.

From supporting constitutional policing, to pioneering practices that better serve individuals with behavioral health needs, to scaling up reentry programming through signature initiatives like the Second Chance Act, BJA has been an indispensable partner to justice practitioners nationwide. The celebration brought together current and former directors whose collective leadership has helped make BJA a go-to resource for communities seeking solutions to their most pressing public safety challenges.

This edition of Justice Programs News & Funding highlights Native American Heritage Month. You'll also find information about funding opportunities, upcoming events like the National Indian Nations Conference, and the latest research publications from across OJP's offices.

Celebrating 40 Years of VOCA

This year, we commemorate the 40^th anniversary of the Victims of Crime Act. This historic legislation created the Crime Victims Fund to provide a source of federal funding to support state victim compensation and assistance programs.

November is National Native American Heritage Month

President Joe Biden has proclaimed November as National Native American Heritage Month. "During National Native American Heritage Month, we honor the heritage and contributions of Native peoples, and we work tirelessly to build a future grounded in dignity, respect, and partnership," Biden said. - The assigned Application Submitter, Authorized Representative(s), and Entity Administrator will receive an email notice from JustGrants.
- Users will see the new award under their entity's "Awards" section in JustGrants.
Status updates for submitted applications are not available. DOJ staff will contact you if they have any questions or require additional information regarding your application for funding.

FROM THE VAULT

In November 1985, OJJDP provided funds to establish a National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse.

Created in response to an increasing number of reported child abuse cases, the Center provided technical assistance, training and clearinghouse services to improve the prosecution of these cases.

Today, OJJDP supports Children's Advocacy Centers across the country that coordinate the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse cases.
