The nomination period for the 2022-2023 Medal of Valor is now open.
Each year, the Medal of Valor Program recognizes public safety officers in law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency services for their exceptional acts of bravery in the line of duty. Recipients are considered by the Medal of Valor Review Board and will be honored by the President or Vice President during an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.
This is the highest national award for valor by a public safety officer.
Learn about past award recipients, and if you know of similarly deserving public safety officers, submit your nominations for the 2022-2023 Medal of Valor by July 31, 2023.
