National Police Week

To our law enforcement brothers and sisters,

National Police Week is a time to support law enforcement communities while honoring officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Each May, we remember these law enforcement officers and their families.

This year marks the 61st anniversary of Police Week. During a time when the pressures of being a law enforcement officer are at an all-time high, the significance of President Kennedy’s 1962 proclamation remains timeless.

On behalf of all of us at the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), I sincerely thank you—our law enforcement officers, agencies, and families—for your commitment to reduce crime and keep our communities safe. We recognize your service and the daily sacrifices that you and your fellow officers make while performing the duties of your oath.

BJA remains a partner in ensuring your personal safety and the safety of the communities you serve to protect. I extend my utmost respect, honor, and remembrance to those who served and those who continue to serve.
