National Mentoring Summit Features OJJDP Administrator and Numerous Grantees

A meaningful, lasting relationship between a young person and a trusted mentor can help to foster self-esteem, promote school attendance and performance, and impart hope, OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan said in plenary remarks at MENTOR’s National Mentoring Summit in Washington, DC. The administrator also welcomed OJJDP’s new mentoring grantees during a 2-day orientation.

Administrator’s Message: Pursuing Racial Equity and Fairness

Administrator Liz Ryan underscores OJJDP’s commitment to pursue racial equity and fairness in the juvenile justice system as the Office celebrates Black History Month. She discusses OJJDP’s effort to eliminate racial disparities in the juvenile justice system through its funding priorities and technical assistance provided to states developing plans to increase equity for youth.
