2022 Medal of Valor
Nominations

Each year, the Bureau of Justice Assistance recognizes law enforcement, firefighting, and emergency services officers for their exceptional acts of bravery in saving or protecting human life while in the line of duty. The bipartisan Medal of Valor (MOV) Review Board recommends the recipients, and the President or Vice President honors them during an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

This is the highest national award for valor presented to a public safety officer.

Learn about past award recipients and watch a video of the May 16, 2022, Medal of Valor awards ceremony held during Police Week.

If you know of similarly deserving public safety officers, have their agency head submit the nominations for the 2022 Medal of Valor by August 1, 2022. The MOV Program is currently accepting nominations for events that occurred between June 1, 2021, and May 31, 2022.

Thank you for taking the time to recognize our officers who commit themselves to keeping our communities safe.
