NOW OPEN: OVW Fiscal Year 2026 OVW Grants to Indian Tribal Governments Program (Tribal Governments Program) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)

OVW’s Tribal Governments Program assists Tribal governments (or their authorized designees) in strengthening the criminal justice response to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking in Tribal communities.

Expected Award Period: 36 months 

Expected Award Amount: Up to $900,000

Important Dates and Information 

• Application deadline for Grants.gov: September 1, 2026 – 11:59 p.m. ET
• Application deadline for JustGrants: September 3, 2026 – 4:59 p.m. ET

Applicants are responsible for reading and following the instructions in each NOFO. Applicants must register online with the System for Award Management (SAM) and with Grants.gov. To ensure sufficient time to complete the registration process, applicants should register with SAM and with Grants.gov immediately, but before August 1, 2026.

• OVW seeks peer reviewers who can objectively review, evaluate, and score grant applications. Peer reviewers consist of active or recently retired practitioners with on-the-ground experience responding to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. We prioritize peer reviewers from diverse communities and geographical regions. Prior experience as a peer reviewer is not required. Reviewers may not peer review grants for which they currently are applying. If you are interested in OVW peer review, email your current resume or curriculum vitae (CV) and a completed Peer Reviewer Information Form to OVW.peerreview@usdoj.gov.
