We are excited to provide an update about the Building 48 project, as we continue to plan for our future workplace at the Denver Federal Center.
In collaboration with the GSA, we recently selected our Design and Build partners, CannonDesign and Centerre Construction, and are at the beginning stages of Phase III – the design development process.
Over the next few months, CannonDesign will develop a detailed design based on information and feedback you shared during the Program Development phase. We had a kick-off meeting with the team last week and are impressed with their knowledge and enthusiasm. We are confident this team is the right fit and look forward to seeing what solutions they present.

Building 48 Project Phases

As we begin planning, some managers and employees will participate in group interviews to validate information provided during focus groups last year. We are still in the early stages, and we plan to share updates with you as the design develops. In the new year, we expect there will be opportunities for every employee to engage in the process.
We look forward to our new building and the opportunities it holds for you and IBC:
-
Bringing teams together in a modern workspace that reflects our mission and brand, and connects our teams to other federal agencies.
-
Converting an underused building into an environment with natural light, new space types and rich amenities.
-
Creating a distinctive site experience for employees, customers and visitors, with enhanced landscaping, outdoor seating, and parking.
-
Embedding sustainable design features to support our organization into the future.
-
Making best use of agency resources, resulting in annual rent savings.
