This opportunity is located within the Office of the Assistant Secretary, Policy, Management and Budget (PMB) under the Deputy Assistant Secretary - Public Safety, Resource Protection, & Emergency Services. The Program Manager provides departmental oversight and extensive coordination for activities related to areas adjacent to international borders where the Department of the Interior manages lands and/or interests. This position is responsible for working with all affected bureaus and offices to implement policy regarding environmental and cultural compliance law, regulation, and policy as it relates to border infrastructure, security operations, and access to and across border adjacent Interior lands.
The Department’s Office of Environmental Policy and Compliance (OEPC) is seeking a temporary Departmental Environmental Justice (EJ) Coordinator Assistant on the Environmental Review Team to further our existing EJ program and ensure it meets the Administration’s new Executive Orders related to racial equity.
The Bureau of Land Management’s Alaska Fire Service (AFS) is currently seeking a Fire Management Specialist (Prescribed Fire and Fuels). The BLM AFS provides fire suppression services for all Department of the Interior Lands and Native Cooperation Lands in Alaska. The Fire Management Specialist (Prescribed Fire and Fuels) works closely with the jurisdictional FMO of the FDO and the resources staff to develop, implement, and direct the FDO Fuels Management Program.

Work with the National Park Service and assist the Planning Team in National Trails on a variety of tasks related to planning initiatives and Congressionally mandated feasibility studies. Work on a variety of critical logistical and administrative tasks to include, but not limited to, project outreach, mailing list management and development, support for public meetings, and assistance with the development of reports and content for feasibility study documents. At present, National Trails is carrying out two (2) feasibility studies on potential, new National Historic Trails: The Emancipation National Historic Trail Feasibility Study and the Pike National Historic Trail Feasibility Study.
