The sandstone spires of Fisher Towers and the snow-capped La Sal Mountains provide a majestic backdrop in this view of the Hittle Bottom section of the Colorado River near Moab, Utah. The Bureau of Land Management stewards this as part of the Colorado Riverway Recreation Area. Visitors flock to the region to enjoy such diverse outdoor activities as camping, rafting, mountain biking, fishing, and rock climbing.
Utah-based artist A. D. Shaw is well known for his genre paintings and plein air western landscapes. After 20 years as a graphic artist, he turned his attention in 1984 to painting full-time and has been a "Top 100–Arts for the Parks" honoree.
