The Department of Energy will be participating in listening sessions on federal scientific integrity. Please see below for more information.
To enhance efforts to improve the scientific integrity policies of federal departments and agencies, the Subcommittee on Scientific Integrity (SOSI) of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is organizing two virtual listening sessions to hear from members of the public about issues, concerns, and recommendations related to Federal department and agency implementation of the NSTC Framework for Federal Scientific Integrity Policy and Practice. This opportunity may be relevant to members of the public who produce, communicate, and use scientific and technical information. This may include: scientists, engineers, educators, news media, science writers, science communicators, individuals who use federal scientific and technical information for decision-making or provision of services, individuals from disadvantaged communities, and other consumers of federal science.
Perspectives gathered during the virtual listening sessions will inform: (1) Federal agencies' finalization of Scientific Integrity Policies, in response to the Framework and its implementation memorandum from the Office of Science and Technology Policy; (2) Federal agency processes, procedures, and practices related to scientific integrity; and (3) other elements of Federal implementation of the NSTC Framework on Federal Scientific Integrity Policy and Practice, pursuant to the Presidential Memorandum on Restoring Trust in Government Through Scientific Integrity and Evidence-Based Policymaking.
Each of the two listening sessions will be organized the same way and will provide opportunities to address the same topics. The Department of Energy will be present for these sessions alongside other departments and agencies.
