The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) site office at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA is recruiting a General Engineer/Physical Scientist, GS-801/1301-12/13 for the Operations Division. This announcement is the only way in which you will be considered for this position. A DOE career status employee selected for this position may be required to serve a new one (1) year probationary period, pursuant to 5 CFR 315.802. This position is within the Office of Science (SC) Pacific Northwest Site Office (PNSO) and serves in the Operations Division. PNSO oversees and manages the M&O contract for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). PNNL is a multi-program laboratory with a primary mission of delivering breakthrough science and technology in the areas of energy and environment, fundamental and computational science, and national security. The PNSO has line management responsibility for PNNL and represents DOE at the PNNL site to coordinate, integrate, and balance DOE requirements and expectations for the accomplishment of the SC, DOE, and other agency research missions. The selected individual will:
- Work with a diverse team of general engineers and physical scientists, to include facility representatives and federal project directors, to affect the safe and efficient operations of PNNL while enabling the pursuit of visionary research and development in support of DOE’s missions.
- Evaluate federal and contractor risk and liabilities and provide program management regarding mission, strategic plans, projects, management programs, work authorization, technology development, acquisition of capital assets, and facility management.
- Participate in site office and SC-wide policy setting, strategic and annual planning, self-assessment of office-wide initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a “L” level clearance. This position is designated as a TDP and applicants are subject to testing for illegal drug use. A negative drug test must be obtained prior to being appointed into this position and the selected individual will be subject to random testing thereafter.
