Natural Gas Imports and Exports Monthly Report
Dear Subscriber,
In September 2024, the United States exported 638.3 Bcf and imported 255.2 Bcf of natural gas, which resulted in 383.0 Bcf of net exports.
U.S. Natural Gas Imports & Exports by Mode of Transport
 U.S. LNG Exports
The United States exported 363.0 Bcf (56.9% of total U.S. natural gas exports) of natural gas in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to 28 countries.
- Europe (160.9 Bcf, 44.3%), Asia (148.4 Bcf, 40.9%), Latin America/ Caribbean (42.8 Bcf, 11.8%), Africa (11.0 Bcf, 11.8%)
- 0.1% decrease from August 2024
- 4.8% increase from September 2023
- 86.2% of total LNG exports went to non-Free Trade Agreement countries (nFTA), while the remaining 13.8% went to Free Trade Agreement countries (FTA).
U.S. LNG exports to the top five countries of destination accounted for 46.8% of total U.S. LNG exports.
- Netherlands (48.9 Bcf, 13.5%), India (32.0 Bcf, 8.8%), China (31.9 Bcf, 8.8%), Japan (31.6 Bcf, 8.7%), and South Korea (25.4 Bcf, 7.0%).
U.S. Imports and Exports by Pipeline and Truck with Mexico
The United States exported 205.5 Bcf of natural gas to Mexico and imported less than 0.1 Bcf of natural gas from Mexico, which resulted in 205.5 Bcf of net exports.
- 6.8% decrease from August 2024
- 1.5% increase from September 2023
U.S. Imports and Exports by Pipeline and Truck with Canada
The United States exported 69.7 Bcf of natural gas to Canada and imported 253.1 Bcf of natural gas from Canada, which resulted in 183.4 Bcf of net imports.
- 9.8% decrease from August 2024
- 13.9% increase from September 2023
