Science, Technology, and Policy Program
The U.S. Department of Energy's Science, Technology and Policy Program is designed to provide opportunities to highly talented individuals to participate in technical and policy-related projects at FECM.
STP Program Fellows: FECM is seeking motivated students, recent graduates, and faculty to participate in projects at the forefront of the clean energy transition, helping to address the climate crisis.
The first round of selections will begin on March 29, 2024. To be considered for the first round of selections, submit your application before this date. The application will remain open after this date and additional selections may be made throughout the calendar year.
Tribal Engagement Fellow: This project entails building and maintaining strong relationships with Tribal and Alaska Native governments, representatives, and communities. FECM is seeking motivated students, recent graduates, and faculty to participate this project at the forefront of the clean energy transition.

 Research Experience in Carbon Sequestration (RECS):
July 21-30, 2024
The 20th annual RECS program (RECS 2024), sponsored by the FECM, will be held on July 21-30, 2024, in Colorado and Wyoming for participants interested in carbon capture, use, and storage (CCUS) and the energy transition. The RECS 2024 program incorporates CCUS site tours, live lectures, a geology field excursion, discussion sessions, and group exercises. Pioneering CCUS experts from industry, national labs, and academia serve on the RECS faculty and will share about CCUS research, demonstrations, and early commercial projects that are foundational for this emerging industry.
Applicants must be early career professionals, Ph.D., or graduate students in geoscience, engineering, physics, climate science, science communications, or related business and social science fields.
The application deadline for RECS 2024 is May 1, 2024.
