As the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) moves into 2022, it has been thrilling to look back on the past year and see all that the team accomplished. From awarding $197 million across 40 research projects to advance carbon management approaches, to accelerating research progress on clean hydrogen and launching key carbon management initiatives at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, 2021 was a significant year. Read our 2021 Year in Review blog post for more highlights.
We plan to make many more strides this year toward achieving the Biden Administration’s climate, justice and equity goals. Keep an eye out for our new Strategic Vision, set to be released soon, which will lay out how we plan to advance carbon management technologies this year and for years to come. And keep your calendar open on February 28-March 1, which is when DOE will host a seminar on Carbon Negative Shot to dive deeper into this initiative and answer your questions—look out for an invitation in your inbox soon!
