OCED announced four projects selected for award negotiations for up to $304 million in funding to pilot transformational technologies designed to de-risk carbon capture technologies and catalyze investments for commercial-scale carbon capture across the power and industrial sectors. These large-scale pilot projects are located at power and industrial sites in Kentucky, Mississippi, Texas, and Wyoming and have the potential to prevent more than 500,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere each year. Learn more about the selected projects here and engagement opportunities here.
OCED issued a Request for Information (RFI) in support of the Regional Direct Air Capture (DAC) Hubs program, which seeks public input from industry, investors, developers, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, potentially impacted communities, and other entities on their interest, potential structure, benefits, and risks of mid-scale commercial DAC demonstration facilities. Watch OCED Acting Director Kelly Cummins preview this RFI and discuss OCED’s progress on DAC at Bipartisan Policy Center’s DAC Day event held earlier this month here. Responses to the RFI are due by April 25, 2024 at 5 p.m., ET. Learn more and submit a response here.
Request for Information Summary Now Available for Pilot-Scale Rapid Operational Validation of Key Energy Infrastructure Technologies
In June 2023, OCED issued an RFI on opportunities for Pilot-Scale Rapid Operational Validation of Key Energy Infrastructure Technologies to help inform a potential clean energy pilot-scale project demonstration program. The responses strongly supported a potential small business program to fund pilot-scale projects that aim to catalyze future commercial demonstrations and provided important feedback on what aspects a potential program should include.
