The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED), in collaboration with the Offices of Technology Transitions (OTT), Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), today announced the selection of 111 entities that will receive vouchers to advance their clean energy technologies. The in-kind commercialization support will be provided by 33 supporting organizations in the form of DOE-funded vouchers, valued at roughly $9.8M.  

The entities were selected as part of the Department’s Voucher Program, which helps small businesses and other non-traditional partners access testing facilities or obtain third-party subject matter expertise needed to advance their technologies, business, or energy projects to the next level. The available support works to increase the adoption readiness of the participating organizations and ultimately brings impactful, clean energy technologies to fruition nationwide. The Voucher Program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law as part of the Technology Commercialization Fund and leverages DOE’s recent partnership intermediary agreement with ENERGYWERX. 

The selected entities will receive vouchers worth up to $250,000 each across five types of support, including analytical assistance (e.g., technoeconomic analyses, market readiness assessments), performance validation (testing, certification), and siting/permitting support for jurisdictions.  

The Voucher Program is a key part of OCED’s mission of enabling the market adoption of clean energy technologies and supporting the critical innovation needed to build a strong American clean energy economy. To help accelerate deployment and market adoption of the critical emerging clean energy technologies in OCED’s portfolio, the office established several Liftoff Enabling Programs—including prizes, vouchers, and industry collaboration initiatives—to provide key support beyond large-scale demonstration projects and to bring the entire industry along.
