U.S. Department of Energy Seeks Independent Entity for New Demand-Side Initiative to Accelerate Clean Hydrogen Economy
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today released a Request for Proposal (RFP) soliciting an independent entity to administer a demand-side initiative to help accelerate commercial liftoff of the clean hydrogen economy.
To support the Regional Clean Hydrogen Hubs (H2Hubs) program, DOE is seeking an independent, not-for-profit U.S. entity with world-class market and financial expertise to execute DOE-designed measures to de-risk clean hydrogen through demand certainty. The entity will work directly with the H2Hubs awardees and incorporate their input to structure the program and ensure regional differences and needs are accounted for. The demand-side initiative seeks to ensure that both producers and end users in the H2Hubs have the market certainty they need during the early years of production to unlock private investment and realize the full potential of clean hydrogen.
The RFP is informed by the Request for Information (RFI) that DOE released in July 2023. Learn more about the input received from the RFI in this video recording.
Responses to the RFP are due by October 26, 2023.
