Field scientists recently planted native rubber rabbitbrush seedlings at the Grand Junction Disposal Site in Colorado for an evapotranspiration cover conversion pilot study. Projects conducted by LM’s Applied Studies and Technology team have shown that vegetation can help control water on disposal cells. Scientists design cell cover enhancements such as these to improve disposal cells’ long-term performance while ensuring they still meet regulatory standards including radon flux, erosion protection, and bio-uptake.
