Grab your binoculars and join STEM with LM and the Weldon Spring Site Interpretive Center staff to learn more about the winter ecology and inhabitants of Howell Prairie. The song sparrow, one of North America's most widespread birds, is a year-round resident at Weldon Spring. In the summer, sparrows primarily eat insects but, in the winter, they feed heavily on seeds from grasses and weeds, making prairie habitat ideal. Use the "Wild at Home" activity - courtesy of another LM site, the Fernald Preserve, Ohio, Site - to do your own winter ecology study at Weldon Spring. https://go.usa.gov/xAvgt
