New Tool
New Tool Simplifies and Speeds Up the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Planning for Federal Fleets
After visiting nearly 100 federal sites to assess requirements for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory has developed an interactive web tool to generate site layouts and cost estimates remotely and more efficiently to support federal EV charging station deployment. EVI-LOCATE (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure – Locally Optimized Charging Assessment Tool and Estimator) uses geospatial analysis, artificial intelligence surface interpretation, the National Electrical Code, component-level costing data, and thousands of invoices to generate location-specific cost estimates and site layouts for EV charging projects. Learn more about this innovative tool.

Agencies in Action
On Tuesday, June 18, the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Liberty hosted senior leaders from the Executive Office of the President, the Department of Defense (DoD), and Duke Energy to celebrate a transformative investment in carbon-free electricity (CFE). The DoD is participating in Duke Energy’s Green Source Advantage programs which will provide 330 gigawatt hours of CFE to five different military instillations across the Carolinas to help build a resilient, clean, and domestically-based electricity supply chain by 2030. This investment marks huge progress toward President Biden’s Federal Sustainability Plan to power the federal government with 100% clean electricity by 2030. This contract alone will meet about 75% of the DoD’s 2030 CFE target in Duke Energy’s territory. Congratulations to the DoD!
