The George Crabtree Institute for Discovery and Sustainability, a new hub for scientific innovation and education, launched on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Chicago. The collaboration between the University of Illinois Chicago and Argonne is dedicated to leveraging the combined research and career-development strengths of these leading institutions.


2024 Art of Science Contest: Deadline extended to April 30

The deadline to submit images to Argonne’s 2024 Art of Science Contest has been extended to Tuesday, April 30.  The contest will showcase the aesthetics of our science and technology — from the cosmos to the nanoscale. It is a great opportunity to visually share the lab’s cutting-edge research with the public.

Argonne will host a virtual panel, “National Labs to Empower Water Innovation Ecosystem,” on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 9 a.m. CT. This panel is one of many events offered during Chicago Water Week 2024. Panelists will focus on Argonne’s roles and engagement in the recent win of the up to $160M National Science Foundation Great Lakes ReNEW Water Innovation Engine. As part of this effort, Argonne collaborated with Current (lead institution), the University of Chicago, and other partners in the Great Lakes Region.

Two Argonne scientists recognized for achievements in their fields

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has elected two scientists at Argonne as AAAS Fellows for Chemistry. Massimiliano ​“Max” Delferro, a chemist and group leader of the Catalysis Science Program in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering division at Argonne and a senior scientist at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago, and Arthur J. Schultz, scientist emeritus in Argonne’s X-ray Science Division, will join a distinguished cadre of researchers being recognized for their achievements.
