Secretary of Defense Announces New 2023 Initiatives for Taking Care of Our People
Supporting Families and Addressing Rising Costs
Taking care of our people remains a priority for the Defense Department. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced new initiatives for supporting the well-being and economic security of our military community.

These new initiatives and benefits will:
  • Strengthen support for military parents through new flexible spending accounts, fund pre-K at DoDEA schools, and expanded parental leave for birth and nonbirth parents.
  • Support military families with exceptional needs with consultants who can offer personalized guidance and recommendations.
  • Assist military spouses with licensure and expanded access to scholarships.
Will these benefits and initiatives apply to you, your military family, or those you assist as a military provider?
