Understand Your Health Coverage
Let's talk health care. TRICARE is a great benefit for military families, but there's a lot to learn, such as how to decide which plan is right for you and your children, how the referral process works, exactly what counts as a qualifying life event and what the catastrophic cap means. This article covers all the basics. It even includes a handy glossary you can use to look up terms that might be new to you.

Transfer 529 Funds
If you or your child have funds left over in a 529 account that's at least 15 years old, you may be able to make that money work for you. Use National 529 Day (May 29) to learn more about how to roll qualified funds into a Roth IRA. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the rollover must be paid through a direct trustee-to-trustee transfer and the total for the year cannot be more than the Roth IRA annual contributions limit; the lifetime rollover limit is $35,000. Visit IRS.gov to learn more.

Did You Know?
Stay-at-home spouses still need life insurance. If your spouse maintains coverage under the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance Program (SGLI), you're eligible to receive up to $100,000 of coverage from Family SGLI (FSGLI). Rates are age and coverage dependent, but start at $0.45 a month for $10,000 of coverage for a spouse under 35 and cap at $45 a month for $100,000 of coverage for a 60-plus-year-old.
