Recently, the Office of the Secretary of Defense sent out an initial training guide on the DoD implementation of the Federal Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Framework in DoDI 5200.48 (see attached 20-S-2093 cleared training guide.pdf).

Under the new CUI framework, controlled technical documents will continue to be submitted to DTIC using the distribution statement markings in accordance with DODI 5230.24. Additionally, the framework will require new banners with "CUI" on the top and bottom of all the pages and a new CUI designation indicator block on the cover.

DTIC realizes that DoD organizations will implement the new marking regulations at different speeds. During the transition period, DTIC will accept documents with or without the new CUI markings, as long as they also have a proper distribution statement on the cover so that DTIC can properly handle the material.
