Linthicum Heights, Md. – Department of Defense (DoD) and Defense Industrial Base (DIB) cybersecurity professionals took part in the DoD Cyber Crime Center’s (DC3) Spring 2024 Technical Exchange (TechEx), held for the second time at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab in Laurel, Maryland on 10–11 April 2024.
In keeping with the seasonal change, the event theme was “Collaborate, Mature, Grow.” DC3 staff members joined experts from government and industry to offer insights on the latest threats to the DIB, discuss policy updates, and highlight exciting new programs on the horizon for DIB companies. Among these, a highly anticipated program will soon be available: the DIB Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP), an evolution of the highly successful DIB-VDP Pilot, which works with ethical researchers to identify system vulnerabilities and enhance cyber defense before adversary exploitation. Another insightful discussion centered around a collaborative panel of analysts and industry leaders who openly and transparently shared knowledge and insights from the 2023 Atlassian Confluence cyber exploitation.
Since 2008, DC3’s DoD-DIB Collaborative Information Sharing Environment (DCISE) has served as the Department’s focal point for all cyber incident reports affecting DIB unclassified information systems and networks. DC3/DCISE provides cyber threat information and cybersecurity services to the DIB to safeguard DoD information. Twice a year, TechEx brings together subject matter experts from government and across industry to promote collaboration and enhance protection of DoD information residing and transiting across contractor unclassified systems and networks, all at no cost to attendees. DC3’s vision is to enable insight and action in cyberspace and beyond, which it achieves by fostering a customer-focused culture.
During the most recent iteration of TechEx, DC3 was honored to welcome leaders from across government and our partner agencies, such as the National Security Agency, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, the DoD Chief Information Officer, and Joint Force Headquarters-Department of Defense Information Network.
DC3/DCISE will present its next iteration of TechEx in Fall 2024. DIB companies and government partners interested in joining the event as presenters or attendees can contact dc3.dcise@us.af.mil.
