JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas – Eight lieutenant colonels and lieutenant colonel-selects have been selected for nuclear and missile operations squadron commander and chief of safety positions, Air Force Personnel Center officials announced today.
The officers selected for command and chief of safety were among 18 candidates identified earlier this year. Candidates who are not on the selection list will remain eligible for additional vacancies throughout calendar year 2015, as they occur, said Maj. Benjamin Guenther, chief of nuclear and missile operations assignments.
“Selection for command or chief of safety is a significant milestone in every officer’s career. These officers have direct daily impact on the Airmen who accomplish the nuclear and missile operations mission, and as such, have direct daily impact on national security,” said Guenther.
