On behalf of the Department of Defense, the Service's Wounded Warrior Programs and the USSOCOM Care Coalition, members who are enrolled or were previously enrolled in their respective programs are cordially invited to apply for the 2023 U.S. Invictus Team that will compete in Dusseldorf, Germany from 09-16 September 2023. There will be a training camp for all members that are selected as a part of Team US at a time and location still to be determined, prior to departure to Germany.
It is our intent to build on the success of previous US Invictus Team's and come together with other allies, to participate and compete with fellow wounded, injured and ill service men and women. The success of the 2022 Invictus Games established an environment that enhanced team bonding and helped Warrior-athletes share recovery information, develop new coping skills and build lasting relationships in a multi-national community of understanding.
The selection committee will meet in November 2022 and conduct a competitive process to select 55 members that will form the U.S. Invictus Team. Last year, the committee selected athletes with top overall results in two or more events out of the entire athlete pool. To complete this process, the names and official competition results were brought forth to the selection committee from their service Action Officer. This year, along with official results, the selection committee will also be considering applicants teamwork, sportsmanship and coach ability as a factor for team selection.
If you were a previous Warrior Games competitor it provides you a cross reference to your classification. If you haven't competed in Warrior Games it gives you the clear text to best select your categorization. Once the team is selected a final categorization process will be communicated to selects. The application and a categorization reference sheet is available at the Invictus event page for you to determine which category you will apply to compete in.
The Air Force will be allocated 11 slots to make up that team of 55. Along with the 11 primary athletes, we will select 5 alternates as well.
Please complete the attached application and return to afpc.dpfw.adaptedsportsworkflow@us.af.mil NLT 21 October. (Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered)
Thank you for your interest in representing the US at the Invictus Games.
