Air Force releases Undergraduate Flying Training selections

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas -- The results are in for the Fiscal Year 2020 Undergraduate Flying Training selection board held here at the Air Force’s Personnel Center in September. The board selected 175 officers for pilot, remotely piloted aircraft pilot, combat systems officer and air battle manager training.
As part of the Air Force’s Rated Diversity Initiative, the Air Force removed certain unnecessary barriers for selection as a rated officer, changing the color vision standards to match the other services, raising the maximum age of applicants and increasing applicants’ allowed total federal commissioned service time.
The board uses the ‘whole person’ concept to evaluate the measure of an applicant's aptitude for success in flying training. Candidates are evaluated based on their application, Letter of Recommendation, personal letter to the board, SURF, officer performance record and or training reports, pilot candidate selection method test score and Air Force Officer Qualifying Test score. Applicants who were not selected this year are welcome to email the AFPC/DP2OR workflow for general feedback on how to improve their selection chances at the next board.
Candidate lists have posted to myPers. To view the lists, select “Active Duty Officer” from the dropdown menu and search “UFT.”
