AF names physician assistant training program candidates

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-RANDOLPH, Texas –Nearly 40 total force Airmen have been selected for the Interservice Physician Assistant Program with phase one of training beginning in August at Fort Sam Houston.

 

“The 29-month program is open to all enlisted, officers and academy and reserve officer training corps cadets,” said Kevin Smith, Air Force Personnel Center biomedical sciences corps education manager.

 

The program includes 16 months of academic training followed by 13 months of “clerkship” at a military medical facility, Smith said.

 

Once enlisted members complete the program, they will be commissioned as first lieutenants. Senior airmen selected for IPAP will be promoted to staff sergeant the day before they depart for the course and technical sergeants and above selected for promotion will pin on before their program entry date.

 

The total force Airmen selected for this year’s program are comprised of six officer and 32 enlisted active duty members including one National guardsman. The names below are listed by grade then alphabetical order for each class start date.
