Army Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, the Army's 33rd vice chief of staff, receives a standing ovation during a farewell ceremony at the Pentagon, March 8, 2013. Austin will succeed Marine Corps Gen. James N. Mattis as the next commander of U.S. Central Command.
