An Afghan soldier takes a knee and provides security for U.S. soldiers during a combined foot patrol in Panjwa'i District, Afghanistan, Jan. 29, 2013. The U.S. soldiers are assigned to 2nd Infantry Division's 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team. The soldiers encountered enemy fire on the patrol and engaged in a firefight.
