Readout of Secretary Panetta's Meeting with Czech Minister of Defense Alexandr Vondra Today, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta hosted Czech Minister of Defense Alexandr Vondra at the Pentagon. They discussed U.S.-Czech bilateral defense cooperation, the posture of U.S. forces in Europe, plans for increasing interoperability among NATO Allies, Afghanistan transition, and the situation in Syria. They also exchanged ideas about the development of a Multinational Aviation Training Center, a Czech-led Smart Defense initiative, which Secretary Panetta endorsed wholeheartedly. Secretary Panetta thanked Minister Vondra for the Czech Republic's unwavering support for operations in Afghanistan and praised the strong state of U.S.-Czech defense cooperation.
