U.S. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta and Chinese Gen. Xu Caihou, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, meet in Beijing, Sept. 18, 2012. Panetta visited Tokyo before Beijing, and will travel to Auckland, New Zealand, during a weeklong trip to the Asia-Pacific region.
