Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta, right, and Interior Secretary Kenneth Lee Salazar sign an agreement at the Pentagon, July 20, 2012, in which 13 million acres of Defense Department land will be made available for wind, solar and geothermal energy projects. Panetta and Salazar met earlier in the day to discuss ways the departments can work together to preserve national lands and resources.
