Schedule Update and Changes to Activities of U.S. Affiliates of Foreign MNEs
SUITLAND, Md. – “Activities of U.S. Affiliates of Foreign Multinational Enterprises, 2023” will now be released Dec. 5 at 8:30 a.m. Before the government shutdown, these data were scheduled for release on Nov. 21.
All data previously planned for this release will be published as tables on BEA’s website, not in the body of the news release, which will be abridged.
As part of BEA’s ongoing streamlining initiatives, some data tables previously produced alongside the news release will be discontinued on Dec. 5:
- BEA is discontinuing annual statistics on U.S. affiliates with 50 percent or less foreign ownership. BEA plans to publish these statistics in benchmark publications (occurring every five years), beginning with the 2022 revised data being published Dec. 5.
- BEA will discontinue benchmark statistics that provide supplemental trade and research and development data, beginning with the 2022 revised data.
- In addition, seven tables that provide supplemental industry statistics will be discontinued, beginning with the 2023 preliminary data.
The full list of discontinued and impacted tables related to U.S. affiliates of foreign multinationals will be posted on BEA’s website on Dec. 5. Discontinued tables will be archived.
BEA’s post-shutdown economic release schedule will continue to be updated as information becomes available.
