On day three of the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV the Department of Commerce Office of Business Liaison was delighted to host Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. The OBL partnered with the Consumer Technology Association to convene a roundtable discussion focused on auto technology with senior industry executives from many different parts of the auto supply chain. The wide ranging discussion touched on many critical areas of transportation innovation. To set the stage for the conversation, Carla Bailo, President and CEO, of the Michigan based Center for Automotive Research made a presentation on the current state of play in the industry. The Secretary was joined at the table by senior executives from automotive OEMs, hardware manufacturers and software developers. Discussion centered on the latest trends and the longer than expected transition in autonomous vehicles and the driver assist technologies that will persist throughout the transition.
Also during the Secretary’s visit to CES, Ross made remarks at the annual Consumer Technology Association Leaders in Technology dinner with this year’s keynote speaker, Impossible Foods founder and Chief Executive Officer Pat Brown.
