National Threat Assessment Center Publishes Case Study Examining Misogynistic Extremism

New publication explores misogynistic motivations behind 2018 shooting at Tallahassee yoga studio

On March 15, 2022, the National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) released a new behavioral case study, titledĀ Hot Yoga Tallahassee: A Case Study of Misogynistic Extremism. The report analyzes the background and personal history of an attacker who killed two women and injured four more at a yoga studio in Tallahassee, FL.

The attacker had displayed decades of prior concerning behaviors directed at women, including multiple assaults and harassment. His misogynistic behavior had alarmed family members, friends, coworkers, and law enforcement, and resulted in job loss, arrests, and being barred from public locations.

The Hot Yoga Tallahassee case study demonstrates the opportunities that exist to prevent targeted violence and highlights the vital role that behavioral threat assessment can play in keeping communities safe.
