FLETC to use HSIN to Expand Training Opportunities
HSIN Program Director Donna Roy presented three sessions of “Training and Information Sharing with Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN)” on September 19 to the staff and Partner Organizations of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Glynco, GA.
FLETC is interested in increasing the number of HSIN users and using the platform for expanded development of online training opportunities. “Anytime/anywhere training is crucial to Federal, State and Local law enforcement communities and FLETC’s leadership is devoting considerable effort to expand HSIN’s mission-critical technology to support FLETC’s mission to ‘train those that protect the homeland,’” said FLETC Chief Information Officer, Sandy Peavy.

Your Input Needed: HSIN R3 Mobile
On September 24, the HUWG Best Practices Committee held a discussion concerning the mobile applications of HSIN R3 and the known and potential requirements for this capability. The discussion was moderated by Chief Charles Werner, member of the HSIN Advisory Council and chief of the Charlottesville, VA, Fire Department.
During the discussion, many users stated that they had already been using HSIN on their mobile devices with great success at major events like the Super Bowl as well as for general access. Working Group members detailed some good ideas about the kind of functionality necessary for mobile devices, but we want your opinions as well.
Please go to the HUWG Best Practices site and start a discussion on mobile applications of HSIN R3 or any other topic. We want to hear how you’ve used HSIN R3 on mobile devices and any feedback concerning best practices. Information gained from these conversations will provide guidance for how this capability can further be developed.
