ICE conducts single adult, family unit, removal flights March 8
ICE, working in close coordination across the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Border Protection, continued to facilitate removal flights of single adults, family units from March 4 through March 8. Those included removal flights to Albania, Georgia, Central America, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Romania and Uzbekistan.Â
From May 12, 2023 to March 6, 2024, DHS has removed or returned over 599,000 individuals, the vast majority of whom crossed the Southwest Border, including more than 94,000 individual family members. The majority of all individuals encountered at the southwest border over the past three years have been removed, returned, or expelled. Total removals and returns since mid-May exceed removals and returns in every full fiscal year since 2013. 🔗 Keep reading

2 charged with murdering witnesses, burying remains to thwart drug trafficking investigationÂ
On March 5, a superseding indictment was partially unsealed in the Southern District of California. The indictment accused Benjamin Madrigal-Birrueta, an alleged 22-year-old drug trafficker, of murdering two individuals to prevent them from testifying in drug trafficking cases in federal court in San Diego. 🔗 Keep reading
ERO Boston apprehends Jamaican national convicted of sexual assault and battery of Massachusetts resident
On Feb. 12, ERO Boston arrested an unlawfully present 30-year-old convicted sex offender in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Deportation officers apprehended the Jamaican noncitizen, who was convicted of two counts of indecent assault and battery of a person over the age of 14 in November 2023. The arrest was part of a nationwide law enforcement initiative that resulted in the arrest of 275 noncitizen sex offenders. The operation spanned from Feb. 5 to Feb. 16. 🔗 Keep reading

2 monkeys intercepted at Texas port of entry; HSI Rio Grande Valley, US Fish and Wildlife Service initiate criminal investigation
On March 4, CBP officers and agriculture specialists at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge intercepted two howler monkeys and turned them over to federal authorities. HSI Rio Grande Valley and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service initiated a criminal investigation and are working the case together.
The monkeys were found inside a 2015 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 29-year-old Mexican citizen attempting to enter the United States. 🔗 Keep reading
ERO Washington, D.C. apprehends previously removed Guatemalan noncitizen convicted of aggravated sexual battery of Virginia minor
ERO Washington, D.C. arrested an unlawfully present Guatemalan noncitizen convicted Feb. 9 for aggravated sexual battery of a Virginia minor. Deportation officers from ERO Washington’s Criminal Apprehension Team apprehended the 43-year-old sex offender Feb. 21 in Richmond. 🔗Keep reading
