ICE conducts single adult, family unit removal flights Feb. 2
ICE, working in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, facilitated removal flights, including single adults and family units to Central America, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Mauritania, Mexico, Peru and Senegal, from Jan. 29 through Feb. 2.Â
From May 12, 2023 to Jan. 31, 2024, DHS removed or returned over 520,000 individuals, the vast majority of whom crossed the Southwest Border, including more than 87,000 individual family members. 🔗 Keep reading
Man who claimed to be Mexican police officer charged with possessing a firearmÂ
A Mexican national who claimed to be a police officer appeared in federal court on a criminal complaint charging him with being an alien in possession of a firearm. HSI special agents investigated the case. David Pasillas Martinez, 52, will remain in custody pending a trial date. 🔗 Keep reading
ERO Philadelphia removes convicted terrorist to Bangladesh
ERO Philadelphia removed Rakin Islam Chowdhury, a citizen of Bangladesh with a final order of removal, to Bangladesh Jan. 17. Chowdhury was previously convicted of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. On June 5, 2015, U.S. Customs and Border Protection admitted Chowdhury to the United States in New York, New York, with authorization to remain in the United States for a temporary period not to exceed Dec. 4, 2015. 🔗 Keep reading
Texas man sentenced to 7 years for child sexual abuse material conviction following HSI El Paso investigation
A 74-year-old Terlingua man was sentenced in federal court to 87 months in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material following an investigation by HSI El Paso. The Texas Department of Public Safety assisted with the case.
According to court documents, Harold Lee McMullen possessed more than 400 images depicting the sexual abuse of children. Authorities obtained a search warrant after discovering that his computer’s IP address exchanged child sexual abuse material over BitTorrent. McMullen was arrested Aug. 15, 2023, and pleaded guilty Sept. 14, 2023. 🔗 Keep reading
