ICE conducts single adult, family unit removal flights Jan. 19
ICE, working in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, facilitated removal flights, including single adults and family units to Central America, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru and Venezuela, from Jan. 15 through Jan. 19.
Since May 12, 2023 through Jan. 10, 2024, DHS has removed or returned over 495,000 individuals, the vast majority of whom crossed the Southwest Border, including more than 83,000 individual family members. Through the end of 2023, removals and returns exceeds the number of removals and returns in each full fiscal year from 2015-2019. 🔗 Keep reading

Organizer of 4-year-old’s kidnapping imprisoned following HSI Rio Grande Valley, local partner investigation
A South Texas man was sent to prison following his conviction for conspiracy to commit hostage taking following an investigation conducted by HSI with assistance from the Mission Police Department.
Gilbert John Montez, 24, of Edinburg, was sentenced on Jan. 16 to 200 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. In handing down the sentence, the judge noted that when an individual is involved in a criminal enterprise, he can be held accountable for the actions of all the participants involved. 🔗 Keep reading
ERO Boston arrests Haitian citizen charged with rape, indecent assault
On Jan. 9, ERO Boston apprehended an unlawfully present Haitian national, who was recently arrested by local police on charges of rape and indecent assault and battery on a developmentally disabled person. 🔗 Keep reading
HSI Laredo, federal partner investigation results in a lengthy prison sentence for 2 Mexican citizens caught importing $1M in meth
Following an HSI and CBP investigation, two men were sentenced to federal prison for importing over 900 pounds of meth.
A federal judge sentenced the Mexican citizens to 235 months. Both must also serve five years of supervised release following their terms of imprisonment. In handing down the sentence, the court noted the large amount of liquid narcotics they were attempting to bring into the United States. They were convicted on Aug. 23, 2023, following a three-day trial. 🔗 Keep reading
ERO Washington arrests Guatemalan noncitizen charged with soliciting child, indecent exposure
On Jan. 3, deportation officers with ERO Washington’s Mobile Criminal Apprehension Team apprehended a 27-year-old undocumented noncitizen charged with crimes related to soliciting a child and indecent exposure. Authorities arrested the Guatemalan national at his residence in Falls Church, Virginia. 🔗 Keep reading
