HSI Atlanta investigation leads to conviction for human rights violator
A federal jury in Georgia convicted Mezemr Abebe Belayneh for obtaining citizenship after lying about his role in persecuting Ethiopian teenagers for their political opinions. Colombian national sentenced for running prison-based fentanyl enterprise
An HSI St. Paul investigation led to a 27-year prison sentence for Daniel Vivas Ceron, who ran a profitable fentanyl enterprise from inside a Canadian prison. Ceron and his co-defendant, Jason Berry, arranged for shipments of the drug from China to Canada and the United States, which authorities say led to fatal overdoses in North Dakota, Oregon, New Jersey and North Carolina.ย ๐Keep reading
