CYBER CRIMES | HSI and Maryland U.S. Attorney’s Office seize 2 domain names purporting to sell COVID-19 treatment or prevention drugs
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland seized fraudulent websites that contained numerous uses of the legitimate Walmart trademarked logo and appearing to mimic a legitimate Walmart website. The domains were allegedly used to collect the personal information of individuals visiting the sites in order to use their information for nefarious purposes. Read more

HUMAN TRAFFICKING | HSI probe exposes man who lured women from Canada with promises to “help” their modeling careers
An Illinois man pleaded guilty July 19 to a federal sex trafficking charge, admitting that he lured two victims – both of whom were 19 at the time – from Canada with promises of promoting their modeling careers, but instead, forced their victims to engage in commercial sex acts by employing force, fraud and/or coercion. CHILD EXPLOITATION | HSI investigation leads to lengthy federal sentence for child exploitation
A Kentucky man was sentenced to serve 214 months in federal prison for using a 7-year-old victim to produce child exploitation material. Bradley Scott Helton, 33, previously pleaded guilty to communicating with the victim via an app called “Kiss Kiss: Spin the Bottle.” He admitted to chatting with the victim, sending sexual videos and pictures, and requesting the victim send sexual videos in return.
