Annual Verification Began Dec. 3

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) annual verification period started Dec. 3, 2019, and closes March 2, 2020. Each year, principal designated school officials (PDSO), DSOs, responsible officers (RO) and alternate responsible officers (ARO) must verify they are still employed by their organization; continue to be the selected PDSO, DSO, RO or ARO; and require continued access to SEVIS. Failure to verify by March 2, 2020, will result in all unverified DSOs losing access to SEVIS on March 3. Visit the PDSO/DSO Annual Verification User Guide for step-by-step instructions to complete the annual verification.

Reminders for Curricular Practical Training

If your F-1 international student is interested in curricular practical training (CPT), don’t forget that you must authorize their CPT opportunity before they can participate. SEVIS will not allow you to backdate the authorization. Read this blog post on Study in the States for reminders on how to effectively authorize and approve CPT for students.

Merge Your SEVIS User Accounts

SEVP and the U.S. Department of State are working to create one person, one record in SEVIS, beginning with school and sponsor officials. Merging your accounts will allow you to access all of your schools and programs with one username and password. For eligibility requirements and detailed instructions on how to request the merging of your SEVIS accounts, please refer to the SEVIS Job Aid: Merging User Accounts on Study in the States.
