Combating Child Exploitation | ICE HSI opens Angel Watch Center to combat child sex tourism, announces FY19 child exploitation investigative results
HSI partnering with CBP and the U.S. Marshals to proactively identify & target convicted child sex offenders who travel to foreign countries
On Thursday, ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at HSI’s new Angel Watch Center in Fairfax, Virginia. As part of the ceremony, ICE Acting Director Matthew Albence explained that HSI special agents initiated more than 4,200 child exploitation cases in fiscal year 2019, resulting in approximately 3,771 criminal arrests, an increase of 18 percent compared to fiscal year 2018. Narcotics | Washington law enforcement agencies receive $163,500 in forfeiture from regional drug trafficking prosecution
HSI investigates narcotics smuggling organizations and the methods utilized to smuggle contraband across U.S. borders
The drug trafficking organization was the main supplier of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana to the Rocky Boy’s and Fort Belknap Indian reservations in Montana. The investigation and law enforcement action began in 2015, with indictments issued and defendants arrested in 2016. The last of 11 defendants was sentenced in late 2018, and the final assets forfeited were liquidated in 2019. All of the defendants were prosecuted in Washington. Read more

When law enforcement agencies don’t honor ICE detainers, these individuals, who often have significant criminal histories, are released onto the street
ERO deportation officers arrested Irvin Acaphelus Cespedes, an illegally present Jamaican national who has pending attempted murder charges. He was released three times between April and October 2019 from local law enforcement custody with an active detainer because of New York City’s sanctuary policies. Read more
