Welcome to News and Updates from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). This message provides useful information for the international student and academic communities.

DSOs: Remember to Register Your Students in SEVIS

Registering students each term or academic year keeps their record and status Active in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). With any new, initial students arriving, designated school officials (DSOs) will need to ensure that the I-901 SEVIS fee is paid and a valid U.S. address is listed on the student’s record. Resources for K-12 Students & DSOs

If your kindergarten through 12^th grade (K-12) school is welcoming new F or M international students this fall, read the K-12 Schools page on Study in the States for important reminders on what K-12 schools should know about hosting international students. Don’t miss reminders about student housing, employment, and power of attorney. Students and school officials can also refer to the Resource Library for helpful one-pagers and infographics related to K-12 schools.

DSOs: Don’t Forget to Request the Merge of Your SEVIS Accounts

SEVP and the U.S. Department of State are working to create one person, one record in SEVIS, beginning with school and sponsor officials. Visit the SEVIS Job Aid: Merging User Accounts on Study in the States for eligibility requirements and step-by-step instructions.

Mark Your Calendar: SEVP Ask the Experts Webinar is Sept. 25

SEVP is hosting a webinar in September! The webinar, SEVP Ask the Experts Webinar: SEVP Portal Follow-up, will take place from 2 to 3:30 pm EDT on Wednesday, Sept. 25. During this webinar, SEVP presenters will discuss hot topics related to the SEVP Portal. The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program that administers the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). It ensures that government agencies have essential data related to nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors to preserve national security. SEVP provides approval and oversight to schools authorized to enroll F and M nonimmigrant students and gives guidance to both schools and students about the requirements for maintaining their status.
