Project Campus Sentinel aims to prevent criminal exploitation of the U.S. immigration system by improving communications between designated school officials (DSOs) and local Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents. HSI seeks school official assistance in conducting compliance investigations, like identifying students who may be susceptible to recruitment or radicalization by groups of individuals wishing to harm the United States.
- Benefits for schools that collaborate with Project Campus Sentinel:
- Expose fraud schemes that may compromise national security;
- Improve strategies for identifying and prosecuting unlawful activity; and
- Help uphold the integrity of legitimate schools and programs.
- Recommendations to facilitate collaboration:
- Record changes to student information in a timely manner and
- Feel confident reaching out to HSI and local law enforcement.
- How to respond to suspicious individuals or activity:
- If you suspect a student is a threat, contact local law enforcement.
- If you suspect a student has violated a federal statute, contact your local HSI office using the HSI Tip Line: 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423).
