Students: Interact with the Facebook Chatbot

The new Study in the States Facebook chatbot is live! This new tool directs international students to resources throughout Study in the States that can help them learn more about how to study in the United States.

You can access the chatbot on the Study in the States Facebook page and read about it on the Study in the States blog.

Read About the Latest SEVP Portal Upgrades

The SEVP Portal recently upgraded to releases 1.5 and 1.6. These releases include changes for students who currently use the portal and information that designated school officials (DSOs) will want to communicate to portal users. Read about release 1.5 and 1.6 on the Study in the States blog.

Don’t Miss this Resource for New DSOs

SEVP’s latest resource, Resources for New DSOs, is now available. This downloadable resource is a helpful starting point for new DSOs at SEVP-certified schools to understand the international student process, successfully manage school and student records and fulfill their reporting obligations. Access this tool and other free downloadable tools in the Resource Library on Study in the States.

DSOs: Visit these Resources for Transferring Student Records

If your F-1 students will graduate this semester and plan to continue their education at a different SEVP-certified school, as a DSO, you are responsible for transferring student records in the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System. The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program that administers the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). It ensures that government agencies have essential data related to nonimmigrant students and exchange visitors to preserve national security. SEVP provides approval and oversight to schools authorized to enroll F and M nonimmigrant students and gives guidance to both schools and students about the requirements for maintaining their status.
